Chronicle of thePre-chapter assembly in the community of Consuelo, Dominican Republic.
It begins with Father Julio Pascual who made his reflection with a prayer where three words stood out: abundance, depth and knowledge. Abundance invites us to have a big heart, depth invites us to go within ourselves and knowledge makes us love more. Father Julio posed the following questions:
How does this 21st century look like with so much turmoil, difficulties, hopes? How do we see the horizon of education, the church and the world?
Faced with these questions, he told us that we must have an attitude as children of God in the face of changes and towards the horizon.
An attitude of growth and openness, called to build the place where we are.
We are in the 21st century, where there is a light culture that makes us people without substances, without values or criteria. Given this, we must become aware of what our role is. This is a century of reference, where our students seek answers.
He told us that the achievements of this century are at a technical and scientific level, which in turn becomes an opportunity to reeducate the language. It also raised some challenges:
• Permissiveness.
• Relativism.
• Skepticism.
• Consumerism.
• Materialism.
Social media instills a culture of cheap superficiality. The change in education depends on us. He invited that from spiritual wealth, we must make a change.
In the afternoon M. Mariana Guinand introduced us to the work of the Assembly, linking with the challenges raised in the previous Assembly: Emmaus: journey, encounter and commitment. These challenges pointed towards pastoral care, community, formation and mission and with this introduction, we formally began our assembly From Emmaus to Pentecost. Following this, the work methodology and the documents to be reflected on were explained. This methodology consisted of personal work and reflection, and then joining the groups and sharing said reflection.
On Friday night, we had the Rosary prayed, in which the mysteries were distributed to the different places. Consuelo had the first mystery: Mary and Pentecost. The second mystery, The Friars: Mary and the charisma. Third Mystery: Mexico: Mary and Laudato Sí. The fourth mystery was in charge of Herrera; Mary and Amoris Laetitia and the fifth mystery Sabana de la Mar: Mary and the young people.
Saturday morning we began with special lauds, on the occasion of the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the canonization of Saint Carmen Sallés.
We continue with the Eucharistic celebration led by Father Delfín, priest of Mary Immaculate, of Filipino origin. Then we continue with the work. At night, we had a prayer with symbols that gathered the experience of the work carried out and then shared the reality and history of the different educational centers, as well as their cultural aspects. Notably, we gained greater knowledge of the community of Jiutepec, Mexico, which recently joined the Caribbean Province. We finished with a festive sharing by each center.
On Sunday we began with the Eucharist in the Santo Cura de Ars parish, we continued with the work of the Assembly and we concluded with the delivery of some details by the Provincial Mother.
