With the aim of valuing, stimulating and energizing ecclesial and pastoral life, the archdiocese of São Paulo-SP (Brazil) has awarded the SAINT PAUL THE APOSTLE MEDAL. Carmen De Ciccio, Conceptionist missionary teaching nun, director of the María Inmaculada de San Pablo School, was chosen to receive the medal for Christian education.
The Saint Paul the Apostle Medal, instituted in 2015 within the framework of the commemorations of the 270 years of the creation of the Diocese of San Pablo, shows in the front view the effigy of the apostle Saint Paul, patron of the Archdiocese and on the other side, the front façade of the metropolitan cathedral of Saint Paul. Each medal is accompanied by a corresponding diploma.
In the Decree of institution of the medal, the archbishop of San Pablo, Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer, recalled that "all the baptized were constituted as the people of God and are participants in the priestly, prophetic and royal ministry of Christ himself" and added that the tribute is also an "incentive for ecclesial and pastoral life to flourish more abundantly in that immense City."
