The closing of the Holy Popular Missions of the Our Lady of Fátima parish in Passos-MG, last on 08/21/2016, was accompanied by a significant event for the entire Conceptionist Family: the announcement of the construction of the First Church dedicated to Santa Carmen Sallés.

The closing of the Holy Popular Missions of the Our Lady of Fátima parish in Passos-MG, last on 08/21/2016, was accompanied by a significant event for the entire Conceptionist Family: the announcement of the construction of the First Church dedicated to Santa Carmen Sallés.

At the end of the festive mass, which was presided over by the parish priest Fr. Eduardo P. de Carvalho and concelebrated by Fr. Luiz Gonzaga Lemos, the procession took place with the Cross of the Holy Popular Missions and with the throne of Saint Carmen Sallés.

Everyone who attended was impressed to see how the people prayed and sang the canonization hymn with great joy despite the rain that insisted on accompanying the procession. Upon arriving at the premises the Cross was erected as the Framework of the Holy Popular Missions/2016. In that same space, to which the throne was also brought with the Holy Foundress of the Conceptionist Religious, the first church in the world dedicated to Saint Carmen Sallés will be built. The land for the construction of the church was donated by Mr. Gastão, who recently died in an accident.

After the prayer of the Holy Cross of the Missions, Fr. Eduardo explained to those present the reason why that place was chosen for the construction of the church of Saint Carmen Sallés: It is located in a popular neighborhood in full growth, as well as the surrounding neighborhoods, inhabited by many families with children and young people. Sisters Catarina Salviano da Cunha, Macdamia Veneziani and Helizangela Silva Goes participated in that moment of grace. They spoke to the people about the life of Saint Carmen Sallés and the mission of the Conceptionists in the world, carrying the Charisma bequeathed by God to that great woman: evangelize through education as well as reach the hearts of children and young people to take them to God.

Everyone returned home thanking God for this event that marks a new phase in the knowledge and expansion of the devotion to Saint Carmen in Brazilian lands, the first country that received the Conceptionists, after the foundation in Spain.

May everything contribute to the growth of the Kingdom of God and may Saint Carmen Sallés intercede so that more and more young people generously decide to follow Jesus in the Conceptionist life in order to carry forward the ideal of evangelizing through the education and build a fair, supportive and beautiful world!!!
