Given climate change, the exhaustion of resources, the destruction of habitats and ecosystems, floods and extreme droughts, desertification and deforestation ...
The new annual campaign from the United Mans, its 61st campaign, will be developed under the motto "who suffers the most abuse of the planet is not you." The presentation acts will culminate on Sunday 0February 9, 2020, with the National Day of the NGO of the Catholic Church.
During the twelve months that the campaign lasts, Manos Unidas will focus on denouncing the consequences that the environmental deterioration has on millions of people, because the climatic crisis has, first of all, a human face: that of 821 million people punished by hunger; that of the more than 1,000 million poor; that of those who must emigrate in search of a livelihood that the Earth denies them or those who get sick because of the contamination of waters and soils.
Who most suffers the abuse of the planet
. Hunger and poverty are two realities closely related to environmental damages, whose most serious traces are pollution, andIn this sense, in addition to the tasks of denunciation and awareness that carried out within the framework of its development education, Manos Unidas supports projects that help communities adapt to environmental and climatic changes and promotes initiatives aimed at helping the increasingly numerous people who are forced to migrate, leaving behind their entire life, as a consequence of the climate crisis.
With this campaign, the second of the triennial work plan that the NGO is carrying out with the motto “promoting rights with facts”, hands will continue to work, as it has been doing for 61 years, in the defense of human rights as guarantors of the dignity of people and indispensable requirement in the fight against hunger, poverty and inequality.
