The Bishop of Rome has also begun its tuning: Francisco Ultima and the last details of his agenda for this Holy Week.
A few days after the beginning of Holy Week 2016, Rome has begun its tuning to welcome the thousands of pilgrims who will go to the "eternal city" to live the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. The Bishop of Rome has also begun its tuning: Francisco Ultima and the last details of his agenda for this Holy Week, which will begin on March 20 with Ramos Sunday and will last until the 27th, Sunday of Resurrection. Know all acts here.
PALM SUNDAY: Although in many places in Spain Holy Week begins with Dolores Friday, in the Vatican the celebrations await until Palm Sunday (March 20), day when Francisco will bless the olive branches and the palms of the pilgrims in the Plaza de San Pedro at 9:30 in the morning. Then, he will continue with Mass and the Angelus, in which he will greet the young people present on the occasion of the 31st World Youth Day.
Holy Thursday: On March 24, the Pope will preside over the Crismal Mass at 9:30 in the morning in the Basilica of San Pedro, which will be attended by priests, cardinals and bishops throughout Italy. It will bless the oils that will be used in the administration of the main sacraments during the year. Holy Thursday: in the afternoon, Francisco will preside over one of the simplest but most beautiful celebrations: the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, in which Jesus's last dinner is remembered. One of the most emotional moments will be the rite of the sink of the feet, in which the Pope will kneel to wash twelve people among those present, who represent the twelve apostles. Although the place has not yet been made public, since the beginning of its pontificate Francisco wanted to go out to the “existential peripheries”: in 2013 he washed his feet to the inmates of the Casal del Marmo's prison, in 2014 to the disabled from the Santa María de la Providencia de la Providencia center, and in 2015 to Rebibbia prison inmates.
GOOD FRIDAY: During the afternoon of March 25, Francisco will be present in the celebration of the Lord's passion (at 5:00 p.m. at the Vatican Basilica), while at night he will go to the Colosseum of Rome to preside over the Crucis via, the fourteen stations that travel from the death sentence of Jesus to his grave (from 9:15 p.m.).
Holy Saturday: At 8.30 pm on Saturday 26, Francisco will enter into procession to the Basilica of San Pedro in the dark carrying the Pascual Cirio to celebrate the Easter vigil.
EASTER SUNDAY: Finally, on March 27, Domingo de Resurreción, Francisco will preside over the Mass in the Plaza de San Pedro at 10:15 a.m., after which the "Urbi et Orbi" blessing will give the world.
