M. Belén Gómez de Castro, General Superior and M. Mercedes Romero, Provincial Superior of Spain have attended the 32nd General Assembly of Major Superiors of the CONFER that was held on May 26, 27 and 28 in Madrid. This year the General Assembly has as its motto “Everyone, everyone, everyone.” Synodal Kairos.
The motto takes up the synodal message of Pope Francis and his legacy, when he wanted to emphasize the construction of a welcoming, inclusive Church without exclusions. Both the president, Jesús Díaz Sariego, OP, and the vice president, Cinta Bayo, ACD, wanted to highlight how consecrated life is called to put synodality into practice in their opening speech.
For this General Assembly they had the help of Yago Abeledo, a member of the Society of Missionaries of Africa who accompanied them throughout the Assembly as a facilitator and guide.
The Assembly began with a Eucharist presided over by the cardinal Jose Cobo, archbishop of Madrid and the closing was celebrated on May 28 with a Eucharist celebrated by Luis Ángel de las Heras CMF, bishop of León and president of the Commission for Consecrated Life of the EEC
