This weekend we held the preparation meeting for the summer missionary projects that The Always Adelante Foundation will carry out in Evinayong (Equatorial Guinea)
and Yaoundé (Cameroon)
.
The meeting began with presentations, sharing who we were and what had moved us to want to participate in this missionary experience with Siempre Adelante. Enci, one of the volunteers of the NGO who has participated in various missionary projects, was in charge of the training part, presenting us the "COMPROMISO" missionary
before, during and after the project.
Then they worked on the profile of the missionary volunteer, with what last summer's volunteers had developed after living their experience.
After a visit to the Headquarters of the General Government of the Congregation, we had the afternoon session, in which practical information about travel, vaccines, insurance... was shared, so that each group could then begin to organize their project.
Sunday morning allowed us to reflect on situations that we can experience in the projects. Before the sending Eucharist they received a letter written by last summer's volunteers and we wrote a letter to ourselves, which we will receive at the evaluation meeting in September. The final touch of the meeting was the sending Eucharist, presided over by Father Emiliano, a priest from Evinayong who carries out his mission in the diocese of Córdoba, where we received our missionary crucifixes.
An intense weekend, which prepares us for an even more intense experience: missionary volunteering.
