On October 27 and 28, the directors of the Conceptionist schools in Spain participated in a training and shared work meeting, focused on improving communication, the exchange of good practices, the preparation of the IV Education and Pastoral Assembly and the Open Doors project.
The meeting began with a session on “Crucial conversations”, taught by Carlos Sánchez León, who addressed how to deal with conversations in which there are opposing opinions, the stakes are high, and emotions can make dialogue difficult. Through illustrative videos and practical cases, attendees reflected on the importance of distinguishing facts from interpretations, being clear about the intention of each conversation and generating a shared meaning that allows moving towards constructive solutions. Proactive listening was also worked on, using the AMPP method, and the value of feedback to improve relationships and communication. The training continued with in-depth workshops
The first day ended with exchange of good practices between centers, a space to share initiatives, learn about experiences from other schools and discover new ways to enrich educational work. He La Inmaculada School Ponferrada, shared the effectiveness of his Coexistence Commission; the Immaculate Hortaleza School, presented the CEMA methodological change (understand, state, memorize and apply) and the La Inmaculada School of El Escorial, announced two educational projects: Create you, aimed at 1st and 2nd years of Primary and knowledge of the great painters of History, and an interdisciplinary proposal for 4th of Secondary on earthquake-resistant structures, in which the scientific method is applied.
The second day focused on preparation of the chapter work and the IV Education and Pastoral Assembly, scheduled for next March. M. Mercedes Romero, Provincial Superior, took a tour of the previous assembly to contextualize the priorities that have guided the last courses and present the documents that will be worked on in the different areas of the educational community: Cloisters, Pastoral, ONGD, Families and AMPA, among others. For this reason, the directors especially delved into the document: "A horizon of meaning. Hope as an educational perspective."
For its part, M. Carmen Fernandez, responsible for Mission, shared various information of interest to schools, including those related to the Internal Information System, training and advice on data protection, the ethical code for the use of artificial intelligence and the nursing service.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of the Open Doors project, in charge of Beatriz Esteban, responsible for Communication of the Province. During the session, the general lines of a proposal were announced that seeks to reinforce the shared identity of schools and transmit their educational and pastoral essence.
This first meeting of the course has been an opportunity to training and shared learning, which has allowed us to learn about initiatives from other centers and advance common projects. An experience that encourages us to continue growing together and face the educational challenges that lie ahead with new tools.
