On the occasion of the day to combat elder abuse, we want to publicly recognize the key role of people in our city/neighborhood/community…

Each elderly person is a unique piece of our history. Without them, we would not know our culture, our traditions, our resources as a society... They are the living testimony of our foundations.

Every older person is a key piece in our future. Without them we will not be able to think about how to continue building the inclusive society that we want to be.

Each older person is an essential piece in our present. Their vital wisdom, capacity for social commitment, availability, their diverse technical and practical knowledge, their different personal skills... are essential for the world we live in now to continue functioning.

Older people are now key pieces of social cohesion, of the experience of belonging to the community and openness to novelty. They are experts in allowing life to move forward, without losing the root. Our society needs the wisdom, good work and varied life experiences of each of the older people.

In Spain, 1 in 5 people is over 65 years old and each one of them is special, necessary and an essential part of our past, present and future.
