On August 15, 2026, in India, Saint Carmen Salles English Medium Nursery School, Thelathuruth, Kerala celebrated the country's 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.

The program began with a prayer, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. The children participated as national freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose and proudly carried the national flag.

The celebrations included cultural performances in which children performed dances and performed patriotic songs. A parade was also held within the school facilities to commemorate the date.

The event concluded with the distribution of sweets to all students and staff. This 80th Independence Day was celebrated with joy, fostering the spirit of unity and patriotism among all present.

Also in the month of August the school celebrated the traditional ONAM, or harvest festival. Onam is the only festival that has endured as a celebration of the people of Kerala since prehistoric times and is therefore one of the most loved and enjoyed.
