There is an art that does not come out in books and that breaks with the logic of the world. It is the art of knowing how to say goodbye: choose with healthy freedom, the appropriate time to leave the place where you have been happy. That place where you could be everything you dreamed.

It was Barcelona, ​​from the beginning, a place to dream. The place that saw M Carmen Sallés be born and in which he first dreamed of our conceptionist mission. The place where he was educated and in which he learned to educate; The place where he discovered that God called her something greater. But also M. Carmen, had to leave her homeland and continue with the certainty that God continued to call her a new mission.

On June 5, 2025, the religious community of Barcelona and then the educational community, we received news, that we would never have wanted to hear: the next year the mission in Barcelona would be in charge of the Albada Catholic Foundation, the former student Jesús Vela de Marco, as the titular director, as a titular director. Very painful decision for all, which responded to the requests of several chapters to review the presence in our works and its sustainability.

The atmosphere began to be confusing, sorry, sad, afflicted; Emotions that could not be verbalized because so many years that seemed to forget; feeling of a life that extinguishes, helplessness and questions. The difficulties gave way to a state of thanks for not closing the school and being able to continue the mission in a Catholic institution.

After 85 years of presence, providence and blessing; of life delivered ... with the desire to thank the passage for Barcelona of so many sisters and the mission made, we celebrated a Eucharist: it was on September 5, when gathered around the altar, religious, teachers, students, alumni, non -teaching staff, families and friends ... all who somehow feel conceptionist family, accompanied by the new provincial council of Spain; M. Benita Swords, (previous provincial superior) and some religious who were previously destined there, we value so much life shed from the conceptionist project.

Belén Gómez de Castro, directed this school for six years. Now as Superior General, he was present in the voice of M. Mercedes Romero del Pueyo, provincial superior, transmitting his encouraging message: "The story we remember today is woven with fidelity, effort and love. There are many memories that are intertwined by those we thank God, because this educational dream has sustained for more than half a century."

“The relief that is made today is not an end, but a new stage. We trust that the new entity that takes this school in its hands, will know how to affectionate what has been built here and will continue to keep the flame of Catholic education on. The torch of the educational mission changes hands, but the flame remains alive. We fully trust that they will know how to guard this legacy and, with renewed impulse From the center a space where faith is lived and transmitted, where education forms free, solidarity and committed people and each student discovers that he is loved and called to give his best ”.

We receive, with emotion, many grateful testimonies that demonstrate how we have educated evangelizing and how in the background, we have loved our mission; Special mention we make the emotional message of the Ruiz Calonge family, all alumni, who showed a grateful heart (and with a detail for each religious present) therefore received during their school stage at school. God has been great with us. After the Eucharist we share experiences while we taste agape.

On September 6, the religious who formed the community (Mm. María Saiz, Montserrat Baquer, Teresa Buxó, Julia Álvarez, Carmen Hernández and Ángeles Cuesta) keeping in the heart what they would only know how to express the keys we delivered, closed the community of Barcelona.

In this jubilee year and in the hands of the Virgin, we continue walking with hope and from the certainty of the words of our founding mother: "Forward, Always go ahead, God will provide ”, because the conceptionist footprint will last forever
